Foreword by Sir Geoffrey Newman.

He effectively ran Dartmouth for nearly forty years, serving as its mayor fourteen times and representing it in Parliament for four terms. He became a public hero and yet was for a time imprisoned in the Tower of London. This book written by Michael Connors is the story of a terrible time, an exciting place and an extraordinary man.
